Universities, academies, and institutions provide postsecondary education in Russia, both publicly and privately. Widespread universities are located throughout the nation. Visit the Russian embassy in your own country in order to apply for a Russian student visa. The documents that must be needed with your application for a Russian student visa vary. Typically, you will require the following:

  • Passport or identification document valid for at least 18 months beyond the visa’s expiration date, with at least two pages and a photocopy of the front page.
  • One recent image of passport size
  • Your official invitation letter from the GUVM (original, not a copy)
  • A medical document less than three months old indicating a negative HIV test result. You may be required to produce the certificate in both Russian and your native tongue, together with your passport information, the period of your stay in Russia, and HIV test results.
  • A printable application form that may be filled out online but must be printed.
  • If you are under the age of 18, you must additionally provide a document signed by your parents or legal guardian and notarized by a notary.
  • Within seven days of arrival, all foreign visitors to Russia must register at the local GUVM chapter.
  • Typically, visas are obtained within two to five weeks. Visa facilities frequently provide expedited service for an extra price.
