International students wishing to study in South Korea must get a “D-2 visa” from the South Korean embassy in their home country. In addition to competence in English or Korean, you will typically be required; a passport, a filled application form, a certificate of your most current academic record, confirmation of your admittance to a university in South Korea, and evidence of appropriate financial resources. The processing fee for your D-2 visa is around US$50 (for a single entrance) or US$80 (for multiple entries). The visa provides for a maximum stay of two years. The students of Engineering can apply for the D-2-7 visa, which allows international students invited by the government to remain in South Korea after graduation and find employment.

You will also be required to obtain health insurance from the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS), which will grant you access to care at all hospitals in the country and costs approximately $20 per month. A semester-long undergraduate course at a public university costs approximately $4,350. The anticipated per-semester tuition at a private South Korean institution is $5,800. In addition, the average undergraduate tuition at Seoul’s sixteen internationally renowned universities is $6,500 per year.
