Brazil is one of the worldwide countries that contains a group of student cities because it is a developed country in terms of higher education. Brazil also contains a group of international universities, which are among the greatest universities in the world. There are many student cities in Brazil where a student can study, and we will take a tour of the most significant and best student cities in Brazil below.

  • São Paulo
  • Salvador
  • Rio de Janeiro
  • São Carlos
  • Brasília
  • Belo Horizonte
  • Curitiba
  • Porto Alegre

The majority of overseas students will require a visa to study in Brazil. You can do so by contacting the Consulate General of Brazil in your native nation. Visas for students are issued for one year and are renewable. Visa processing often takes two to three months, so ensure you have plenty of time before the start of your course. You can submit your visa application online.

To meet the Brazilian visa requirements, send a printed and signed receipt along with the needed documents to your nearest Brazilian consulate or visit the embassy in person.

  • Passport valid for six months following the completion of the course
  • Birth certificate copy (may or may not be required)
  • The Consulate General will affix a stamp to two printed and signed visa application forms (Pedido de Visto)
  • Two passport-size pictures
  • Copy of an acceptance letter from a Brazilian institution acknowledged by the MEC. Include the course length, the number of hours per lesson, and the number of lessons per week in the letter. In Brazil, the letter’s signature must be confirmed by a Notary (Tabelio)
  • Certificate of past prosecutions and convictions issued within the past three months
  • Documentation demonstrating that you have sufficient funds/financial support for the duration of your stay
  • You may also be required to get vaccinated against yellow fever (you’ll be granted a vaccination card, which you’ll need to submit with your application for a visa); however, this prerequisite may be different for you depending on the nation in which you were born
  • Receipt of payment for the visa processing consular fee
  • You must also submit your academic transcripts to the Conselho Estadual de Educaço, the educational institution in each Brazilian state that authorizes the recognition of foreign education certificates
  • You must enter Brazil within ninety days of the visa’s issuance date. Within thirty days of your arrival in Brazil, you are required to register with the Federal Police (Policia Federal) in the branch that serves your area; otherwise, you’ll be charged a fee for each day you’re late, and it may hurt your chances of obtaining a visa renewal or extension in the future
  • Registration with the police is required to legalize your stay and obtain a foreigner’s ID card. You must produce your passport, student visa, a copy of the letter from your university, and the receipt for your consular fees. You must pay for this card with a particular form provided by the Federal Police. You must also apply for a visa renewal with the Federal Police department at least 30 days before your visa expires
  • You may apply for visas for family members to join you in Brazil while you study as a student visa holder, but neither you nor they are permitted to work in Brazil. You will also be required to obtain private health insurance, either before leaving your home country (which will be easier) or upon arrival in Brazil (with the assistance of your institution’s Office of International Affairs/Assessorato De Relaçes Internacionais, which is in charge of foreign students)
  • Keep your Embarkation/Disembarkation card, which will be filled out, signed, and stamped by an immigration official at the airport. When departing Brazil, you must return your passport to an immigration official so they can document your departure
