If you are trying to study in Mexico for more than six months, you must apply for a student visa through the Mexican embassy or consulate in your home country. To accomplish this, you must have been accepted into a course at a Mexican university. To obtain a student visa, you must have a valid passport (valid for at least six months), proof of acceptance into a Mexican university, proof of sufficient cash (US$300 per month of stay), and a return ticket. Visa fees normally range between US$18 and US$30. Your student visa is only valid for 30 days in Mexico, after which you must apply for a resident’s permit at the National Registry of Foreign Citizens. This study permit is valid for one year and allows multiple entrances into the nation. You will not be eligible for internships if you intend to study in Mexico as a tourist or with a tourist visa.
